Keeping Skills Up-to-Date
Hassan completed a CNA training program. Then he passed his certification exam. He is now working as a CNA at a long-term care facility. It took hard work to reach his goal, but Hassan loves his job. He loves working with patients. Hassan wants to do his best to help the patients in his care. This means that he is always trying to learn new things. For example, recently he started working with a new patient who has dementia. Hassan learned a little bit about dementia in his training program. However, he wanted to learn more. He asked one of the experienced nurses to give him tips for working with dementia patients. He also used the Internet to search for more information. With his new information, Hassan is able to provide better care.
Hassan is also considering another way to keep his skills up-to-date. He wants to join a professional organization. There are several professional organizations for nurse assistants. There is the National Association of Health Care Assistants. There is also the National Network of Career Nursing Assistants. These organizations provide peer support and training. They have websites that can provide valuable information. They also use social media to share ideas and resources.
Healthcare workers need to keep up-to-date with many changes. New treatments, medications, and medical devices are being developed all of the time. If you don’t keep up with the changes, you might not be providing the best possible care.
